Ukraine Defence Asks Canada for Rockets Earmarked for Disposal
Canada has been a powerful ally and friend for Ukraine. We are all grateful for Operation UNIFIER which has been critical for our defenders’ survivability on the front. The largest Ukrainian diaspora in the world is Canadian. We feel their love and support.
One of the issues Ukraine faces is a chronic shortage of weapons and munitions. Some defence units are using WWII USSR stock because that’s all there is. So, when we were told that there were 83,000 retired CRV7 rockets sitting in the Canadian Armed Forces’ depot in Dundurn, Saskatchewan, you can imagine our excitement!
The contract for the disposal of these valuable rockets was granted, but we hope that Canada will allow us to comb through the stock to ensure they are safe for transportation and help us ship them to Ukraine. We have a facility that can use the majority of the rockets regardless of their current state.
